Facebook- it’s all about sticking to your profile and neglecting all other important stuff. People were obsessed with so many things when there was no Facebook in the scene, but as soon as Facebook struck, everyone welcomed it like anything, be it an adult or young one, worker or student, all are badly addicted to Facebook. It’s not only that the worker is fired by his boss seeing odd snaps on Facebook, but it is the peril that has intertwined all the users, too severely.
It’s not about “addiction”, it’s about “need”. You are dependent on Facebook and it has become a need that cannot be fixed easily like caffeine. Profit driven corporation like Facebook has become a vital part of our lives in comparison to email or Internet, as Facebook has merged all at one place. A-need-or-addiction question is a mystery that no one, but Mark Zuckerberg has the key to unlock the reason being behind and he would for sure never going to answer this either.
Point to ponder over
Point of failure for us is that we are driven by these corporations just to make money, as we are indeed so much dependent on them that without even giving it a thought we are paving their path to make more money. Twitter’s fail-whale even depicts the same theme i.e. power to them without being electing or accountability. People- Mark Zuckerberg interested in- are all those who can provide an economical injection for him, means all fervent users.
But the question is: where would you go if you won’t be up to Facebook? Towards Google+, or towards LiveJournal? But by choosing any one, you would still have this in back of mind that what your friends are up to right now, what is the new popular brand they are into or what will the crops of your Farmville do, once you quit Facebook?
Having Facebook account is no doubt like having a car. You can’t go where you don’t want to. You can’t check in places you are not willing to. Online games even require a Facebook account. In short, you can’t simply let it go or quit Facebook like this.
Face book supreme monopoly
To Internet stuff, you are not customers, but products. In case of mobile-phones, you buy it from the company and hence are customers, but in case of Internet like Google or Facebook you are mere products. No other companies like AT&T and Verizon have the same monopoly as Facebook now-a-days, which is threatening indeed.
They are for sure not guiding you, but want your attention because they are the selling zones for advertisements. Just put advertisement in front of user’s eyes and the eye-ball catches it at once, if catchy. They are platforms for selling advertisers the rights to display their right brand or product. There is though nothing ominous regarding these advertisements, but in case of Facebook you won’t be able to change the channel that easily and it’s all about addiction of its features and ads.
Facebook will censor what you will say regarding it because you are the ultimate power and omnipotent audience.
