Smart phone application: application revealing secrets of what going on in grey cells at top

The wonders of what’s going on in the mind of humans since day one, has recently paved path for an application that can scan and monitor the electrical activity of your brain. This application of scanning-and-monitoring has been discovered lately in the “Technical University” of Denmark by “Jakob Eg Larsen” and his team members. Initially, the technology is limited to Nokia N900 smart phones that require small and commercially available electroencephalogram headset for ears.  This smart phone is entirely a functional device of brain scanning. The EEG headset along the smart phone is easily portable and a real time functional device, scanning your brain in order to check neural signals once you put the headset on, irrespective to the location, be it your home, office or even sports ground.

No one will voluntarily for-sure go for doing so, but the idea behind scanning is to check out the brains of all those who suffer from epilepsy and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorders, without even going to the hospital directly.

To use the application, all the patients need is to insert the headsets in their ears and then start the application. The user after plopping-up the headset will see a 3D simplified image of his brain and the area of his grey matter will light up, once it detects any activity.

The user can scrutinize and rotate the image by rotating the screen of his smart phone that will in turn change the direction of his 3D brain image.

The information from the cell phone can also be transferred to the server, if the information and calculations are far beyond smart phone’s capacity and features.

Comparing to the traditional electroencephalogram or EEG measurements and treatment, this application is an ease to the user. In traditional treatment, one has to bring the patients to the lab, insert the wires of scanning machines in their head and do calculations, keeping them totally in isolation. But in case of this application, you need not to do so, instead you just plop-in the headset and rest will be done by the application itself; this is what Jackob Larsen commented on his application and called it – pure Larson’s technique.

His team member and colleague, Arkadiusz Stopczynski, commented on their technique that it’s far better to go to the hospital, take your treatment in isolated lab and then go home.

According to Jakob Larson- creator of this technology, it is first time ever that the capacity of smart phones along with the EEG headsets have used to detect the activity of grey cells of a brain and that too for a highly noble cause. Commenting on the limitations of his application, Larsen said that though his application doesn’t bear the strong computational power of brain scanning machines at hospitals, yet one day it will emerge as a strong tool for detecting grey cell activities of your brain. And will be appreciated to use in the field of neurology to check what is happening there at top in human brain.
