Windows 8 offers quite a few changes from the previous Microsoft operating systems and a number of these differences are exciting enough to make the launch later in 2012 something well worth waiting for.

New Interface

Perhaps the most important of the new features is a smart new interface which is based on Microsoft’s Metro language. It promises to give a slick and easy way of getting things done and the screen shots which have been released so far certainly look amazing.  One example of the changes to expect is the fact the start menu is to be replaced by a start screen which is easier to organise and use. The task manager section has also been given an overhaul and promises to be better than before. Getting started up also seems be easy, with a clever authentication process replacing the old fashioned password method.

Windows To Go

With this part of the Windows 8 system you will be able to use a USB device to boot the system including your setting and files. It will work with both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 and is designed to let people have easy access to their normal working environment wherever they are.

Enhanced Security

If you are used to using a third party antivirus solution then Windows 8 may just do away with a need for this. It is going to include an updated version of Windows Defender which gives full coverage against all of the kinds of malware which make PC users shudders these days, including real time protection from threats.

The Windows Store

Here you will able to get hold of Microsoft applications anytime you want in a way which is not entirely dissimilar to using the Apple Store.

Explorer 10

The latest version of Internet Explorer which comes with Windows 8 will give some more security features and improved HTML5 functions. It promises to give a better internet experience and will no doubt be one of the first features a lot of us will want to try out.

A Quick Start

The new booting process is slicker than ever before and if you use the Hybrid Boot option then you will be up and running again in no time at all.

One Platform

The new operating system will be same for PCs, tablets PCs, tables and mobile phones, so you could find yourself using just the one interface on all of your technology. This could be a very handy advance for anyone who switches from one gadget to another and doesn’t want to lose track of anything.

Supports Different Monitors

This feature might not be of all that much interest to all of us but it is worth pointing out that the system can support multiple monitors which can show different backgrounds and task bars if you want them to.

Less Resources Needed

The whole thing runs on just 300 Mb RAM while you are using it. This makes it a very efficient operating system and might just help you free up resources for doing other things at the same time.
